Senior living marketing agency Attane abruptly closes, a victim of industry’s slow pandemic rebound

Kansas City, MO, senior living marketing agency Attane on Monday unexpectedly announced its immediate closure, an apparent victim of the COVID-19 pandemic. The news leaves approximately 100 employees looking for work.

Most employees’ employment was terminated right away, leaving “a handful of people around until next week to transition client work and unwind everything,” Vice President of Communications Steve Wujek told the McKnight’s Business Daily on Tuesday.

The bank holding the agency’s debt seized the company’s cash and assets, forcing the immediate shuttering of the business, he said.

The agency was founded in 1987 and was known as GlynnDevins until June 2021. Its eventual downfall, Wujek said, was the senior living industry’s slow rebound from the pandemic. “The demand for our services was lagging behind that rebound,” he said.

COVID-19 created challenges and shook consumer confidence in the senior living industry. Operators would need to do some “heavy lifting” in its wake, GlynnDevins Chief Customer Officer Susan Bogan predicted during a webinar in 2020 near the pandemic’s start.

For the past three years or so, Wujek said, the “company evolved beyond a traditional marketing agency, with a stronger focus on data-driven technology solutions and marketing automation, the adoption of that approach and the understanding of how it can benefit the sales/marketing process has been slower than expected.”

Last fall, Attane hired Scott Kokotan as CEO and Lisa Pearre as chief client officer.

Monday, employees were informed about the company’s closing via Zoom, then took to social media to express their dismay at the closure and openness to new work opportunities. Colleagues responded with offers to help them network for new positions.

“Many of my talented friends in the KC (and beyond) ad community lost their jobs in the past 24 hours,” one colleague posted Monday on

New Biden rule would make government websites, apps more accessible to people with disabilities

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration proposed new regulations Tuesday to make state and local government websites and apps for services like libraries, parking, transit and court records more accessible for people with disabilities.

The new Justice Department rule would establish certain accessibility standards for websites and app-based services maintained by state and local governments, the White House announced. Those could include providing text descriptions for photos for the visually impaired who use screen readers, and captioning for government videos.

Administration officials say such websites and government services have not been as accessible as they should be for people with disabilities, and that President Joe Biden was aiming to change that. Wednesday is the 33rd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“President Biden has been completely clear that everyone in America has to be able to share in the benefits of technology,” said Arati Prabhakar, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. “That means a digital infrastructure that works for the 25 percent of Americans who are living with a disability.”

The timing of when the more stringent standards would go into effect will be more clear once the proposed rule from the DOJ is formally released, administration officials said.

Lee Jun-Ho Wanted To Do A Rom-Com That Would Make Hearts Flutter

Lee Jun-ho plays hotel executive Gu Won in the romantic comedy King The Land. It’s a drama that has gained considerable attention for the romantic scenes between Lee and his co-star Im Yoona. Lee, known simply as Junho, plays the classic male k-rom-com lead—perfect, aloof and yet no stranger to trauma. Yoona plays Sa-rang, a brightly optimistic employee at the King Hotel, which is run by Gu Won’s family. Despite their obvious differences, they fall in love, but have to hide their affection from his potentially disapproving family as well as her curious co-workers and friends.

It’s an upbeat comedy that’s quite different from his previous drama The Red Sleeve where he played the real-life King Jeongjo. The Red Sleeve was a popular and critical success, winning Lee multiple awards.

“I think The Red Sleeve was a masterpiece that lingers in people’s minds,” said Junho. “When it came to choosing my next work, I examined scripts with the hopes of having a different genre or atmosphere from my previous work. In that sense, I found King the Land a very easy-to-watch drama. It seemed like anyone could catch up on it even watching it from the middle of an episode. I decided to participate in this drama because I felt that it was like a small kind of healing that anyone could, at any time, turn on while eating or going somewhere and still enjoy it comfortably. Shooting The Red Sleeve gave me hope that a good atmosphere on the set creates good work. Maybe that’s why I thought that if I took responsibility and worked together with the staff and actors on the set, we could produce an enjoyable drama, and, while shooting, I hoped viewers also

Invoke Gives 95361 An Updated Web Look

Nicole Tongue is putting her mark on Oakdale.

Just a few months shy of two years since she made the 95361 home, the single mom of two has created partnerships with many non-profits and businesses.

Tongue is the founder and owner of Invoke Solutions. A business she launched from her East Coast home in 2012. As a single mom with an impressive corporate background, the founder shared she had been a casualty of corporate cuts. After encountering rejection and interviews with 20-somethings sharing she lacked experience, Tongue made her skills and knowledge work for her.

“I thought you know what, I’m going to take all my marketing skills and open my own business. That was in 2012,” she said.

“The primary business is website development, but there’s a lot of off shoots because of it,” Tongue explained of her business. “For example, I tend to work with more small mom and pops, start-ups and non-profits and they tend to need a little bit of hand holding for business development.”

The one-woman operation has the knowledge to help a business or non-profit not only with their website, but business plans and grant applications. Tongue shared the marketing piece of a business really helps give the business a blueprint for all else that follows.

“It gives you the resource, so when you go apply for the grants, all those questions the grants are going to ask you are going to be in that website,” she said.

Yet the migration for the Massachusetts native to Oakdale, California was not a business move, but rather a family decision as Tongue’s oldest son Cameron chose Santa Clara University. A gifted basketball player, her son had a number of offers from varying campuses around the country; Santa Clara was his pick.
