Gregg Benvenuto joins International Dairy Queen as VP of franchise development

American Dairy Queen Corporation, parent company of the Dairy Queen brand, has hired Gregg Benvenuto as its vice president of franchise development in the U.S. and Canada. Benvenuto will lead a team to deliver the company’s development market planning and franchise unit sales throughout the two countries, according to a press release.

Benvenuto has extensive experience in restaurant franchise development, having held executive roles at Dine Brands, Papa Murphy’s and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. He also worked as a franchise business consultant at Yum Brands.

“We have ambitious goals to expand our DQ Grill & Chill footprint in the U.S. and Canada over the next five years,” Dan Kropp, COO for ADQ in the U.S. and Canada, said in the release. “Gregg’s proven track record in franchise development will be instrumental in achieving our growth plans.”

Benvenuto expressed his enthusiasm about joining DQ during a period of significant growth. “I’m excited to lead the team and help make DQ restaurants a household name across North America,” he said in the release.

International Dairy Queen Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the parent company of ADQ and Dairy Queen Canada. IDQ oversees a network of more than 7,000 DQ locations in 20 countries.
