Missing woman found dead in cellar at construction site | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Five days after a 38-year-old labourer went missing after leaving her house in Gowlidoddi area of Gachibowli, her body was found in the cellar of an underconstruction building at Nanakramguda on Tuesday.
The body of the woman was found by labourers at a multi-storeyed building near Wipro circle in Nanakramguda after noticing foul smell emanating from cellar. They alerted cops immediately.
“The body was highly decomposed and the woman was half-naked. The exact cause of death could not be ascertained due to the decomposed state of the body. Once the postmortem report is ready, we can confirm the cause of the death and if she was sexually assaulted,” Gachibowli inspector B James Babu said.
Clue team visited the spot and collected evidence. Police are analysing the CCTV camera footage near the crime scene and have reportedly taken one suspect, a labourer, into custody for questioning. A murder case was registered under section 302 of the IPC.
Police said the deceased was a labourer from Keshava Nagar in Gowlidoddi area. Her husband Sambaiah has a criminal record and is currently serving prison time. Police said the woman was addicted to alcohol and used to pick up fights with her children for money to buy liquor.
On August 25 morning, she picked up an argument with her daughter, who is a housekeeping staffer in a hospital, asking for money to buy liquor. “When her daughter refused to give money, woman assaulted her and stole ₹300 cash from the house and left,” Madhapur ACP P Srinivas said.
When she did not return home, her children searched for her and also made enquiries with their relatives and family friends. On August 27 evening, they approached Gachibowli police and lodged a complaint. A missing case was registered on the same day.
