Web Developer – Career Rankings, Salary, Reviews and Advice

Web developers create and maintain websites and web applications, and they use web-facing technology to build software.

They talk with clients to understand their needs and build websites that meet them. Other duties may include:

  • working with graphic designers on site layout or doing design work themselves
  • creating mockups
  • testing and problem-solving
  • meeting with various stakeholders.

“A lot of the job is explaining technical concepts in nontechnical ways,” says Michael Panik, Birmingham, Alabama-based technical lead for Alloy, a software firm and digital strategy company. “You have to be able to talk about what you do, and you have to be able to convince people that it’s worth doing. But the rest of the time is a lot of being in the code.”

Web developers must possess good research skills as they try to understand clients’ needs and create desired products. They must have good project management and logical reasoning skills and should communicate effectively with clients and teammates.

The scope of a web developer’s job can depend on their specialty and what they’re most experienced in. Back-end developers are responsible for writing the code that stores and processes data on a site. Front-end developers focus more on the user interface and need an eye for design. Full-stack developers have some proficiency in both front- and back-end web development.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 30.3% employment growth for web developers between 2021 and 2031. In that period, an estimated 28,900 jobs should open up.

Digital Growth-Marketing Agency Growthcurve Celebrates Record Growth as Client Roster Surpasses $500million In Funding from Investors

Member Article

Independent digital growth-marketing agency Growthcurve is celebrating record growth having helped their clients raise a combined total of over $500 million in venture capital and private equity funding.

The agency which specialises in growth marketing for start-ups and scale-ups has helped clients pass the funding milestone through their unique evidence-based growth marketing.

Led by founder Mulenga Agley, who launched Growthcurve in 2017, the agency is now launching a major recruitment drive with ambitions to more than double in size by the end of 2024.

Agley believes the agency’s success is down to its unique approach to experimentation, real-time feedback loops and its approach to giving clients the ability to scale their team of marketing experts up or down flexibly.

And he is predicting that 2024 is the year that growth marketing firms start to outpace integrated ad agencies in new business wins as clients wake up to the results that can be achieved.

Mulenga Agley, Founder and CEO, Growthcurve, said: “Our pioneering Growth Marketing approach fuses creativity and culture with media and technology to help our clients acquire their ideal customers faster. It’s our job to break new ground, invent new distribution tactics, leverage data more intelligently, and to produce creative work which is impossible to ignore.”

“Through this work our clients are achieving the results they need to attract the external funding for their next stage of growth.”

“The fund-raising environment is always interesting because it shows you what’s coming in the world – based on where money starts to go from venture capital, we can predict which types of companies, disruptive ideas or new technologies will be big in the future.

“We knew well ahead of time that AI was going to experience a serious boom cycle due to a steep rise in AI founders

The Bookseller – News – Dumughn appointed as Midas marketing director as agency launches marketing offering

Communications agency Midas has announced it is expanding its offering to include marketing with the appointment of Stephen Dumughn as marketing director.

Dumughn was previously marketing director at Bonnier Books UK, where he oversaw marketing across all adult divisions. In his new role, he will work alongside Midas’ senior leadership team, including c.e.o. Jason Bartholomew and deputy managing directors Georgina Moore and Amelia Knight, to expand the agency’s existing offering of PR and digital communications, to include marketing services.

Midas says the expanded offering aims to provide “a full, one-stop shop service to prospective and existing clients, including creative ideation, brand-building, and consumer and trade campaign planning and execution”.

At Bonnier, Dumughn spearheaded the launch of the company’s digital direct-to-consumer strategy, including the Readers Club author programme and numerous genre platforms, while also leading the marketing strategy behind authors including Stacey Halls, Heather Morris, Rory Clements, Christy Lefteri and Robert Peston, and helping drive the acquisitions of brand fiction authors such as Wilbur Smith and Lynda LaPlante. He previously held marketing positions at Little, Brown, Penguin Random House, Pan Macmillan and Orion.

Bartholomew said: “We’re excited to be launching Midas’ marketing offering with Stephen joining the team. Following the successful growth of our digital division, we’re seeing increasing demand from clients for strategic marketing support, and I couldn’t be happier that Stephen will be taking the lead on delivering this for Midas and our clients.

“Stephen has exceptional marketing experience, and his numerous award-winning campaigns speak for themselves. I’m looking forward to working with him as we embark on this new chapter for Midas.”

Dumughn commented: “Something exciting is taking shape at Midas, and I’m very happy to come onboard at this crucial stage in their growth. It’s been a fascinating few months since I left Bonnier and I’ve enjoyed

A Newcastle-based digital marketing agency is upbeat after experiencing “rapid” growth and winning a host of new clients.

MIRA Marketing was established in 2018 and specialises in pay-per-click, email marketing, social media and conversion rate optimisation.

In the last year, the agency has doubled in size, while revenues have also surged.

Founder and chief executive Stuart Bramley said: “Expansion has been rapid over the last 12 months with the addition of major clients improving our revenues and leading us to grow our team further.

“Our new clients include Harringtons pet food, part of the Inspired Pet Nutrition Group and Papershift Software, while we’ve grown our work with other regular clients such as the NHS, The Centre for Life, Host and Stay and J.T Atkinson Builders Merchant. We’re now helping almost 40 companies grow their businesses.

“To cope with demand, we’ve grown our team from five to 11 and moved into larger offices at Hoults Yard.”

Bramley added: “We’ve been recruiting carefully and I think the type of interesting work we do is an attraction – for instance we’ve been working with the NHS on a campaign to reassure patients who are worried about upcoming operations while in contrast, we’ve also been working with the Centre of Life in driving their footfall. I think the diversity is an attraction.”
